Concrete Truck Insurance

A concrete truck carries a load with a deadline. Everything specific to insuring one follows from that: the barrel has to keep turning, the pour has to happen, and if either stops the loss is not just the concrete.

What concrete agitators insurance covers

The Barrel and Drive Line

The agitator bowl, its drive and the hydraulics are specialised plant bolted to a truck, and they are a large share of the value. A breakdown that stops the barrel turning does not just cost a repair, it sets the load solid inside it.

A Load That Goes Off

If a truck is delayed or breaks down, the concrete is worthless and removing it from the barrel is expensive. Whether any of that is recoverable depends on wording, and it is a specific question worth asking rather than a general assumption.

Site Access and Soft Ground

Agitators are heavy, high and frequently on ground that was not built for them. Bogging, striking overhead structures and damaging driveways or services are routine claims, and most are liability rather than motor.

Rollover Risk From a Moving Load

A part-full barrel shifts weight constantly, and agitators roll over at speeds that would not trouble a rigid. Insurers know this and price it, which makes driver experience and route work more relevant here than on general freight.

Damage to the Pour and the Property

Concrete in the wrong place is difficult and costly to remove, and claims for damage to a customer's property, driveway or landscaping are common. Public liability is doing more work on a concrete truck than the motor section is.

Cover, limits and examples shown are general in nature and subject to eligibility, underwriting and the terms of the issued policy.

Concrete agitators insurance questions.

Speak with our team on 1300 080 323.

What insurance does a concrete truck need?
Commercial motor covering the truck and the agitator body, public liability at a limit that reflects site and property damage risk, and machinery breakdown for the barrel and drive line. The load itself and the consequences of it setting are separate questions worth asking directly.
Is the concrete in the barrel covered?
Often not by default. Motor cover responds to the truck, and carriers cover contemplates freight rather than a perishable load with a working time. If losing a load matters commercially, raise it specifically so it is arranged rather than assumed.
What if the truck breaks down and the load sets?
That is the scenario to plan for. The repair may be covered under machinery breakdown, but the set load and the cost of chipping it out may not be. It is one of the few places where reading the wording before you buy genuinely changes the outcome.
Am I covered for damage to a customer's driveway?
That is public liability rather than motor, and it is one of the most frequent claims on an agitator. Limits should reflect that you are routinely on residential property with a very heavy vehicle, not just on public roads.
